What Am I Missing Here?

Good points everyone. I don't feel so bad about my coop now. I just have to get my wife to read this thread! It's too bad that more of the people that build pre-fab coops didn't spend time here on BYC or actually have birds of their own, they might be more useful in terms of ventilation and roosts, etc.

I paid nearly $4000 until I altered a 12 X 24 into a usable coop with run. Keeping chickens is not cheap. We even built other coops using some used lumber for the framework and spent around a thousand easily.

There's absolutely NO WAY I would fork over $1000 for a USED coop. Please just make your own or hire someone to build it for you! With old coops come diseases and other infestations we seem to forget about.
