My name is Soufflé. I came from ebay and I was supposed to be a polish chick. I hatched with three other chicks who all have four toes, but - surprise! - I have five toes on each foot. If I am not a polish, what am I??
A polish mix breed or something else?

Could be some silkie in there, although I don't see feathered legs. Is the comb dark? She has a vaulted skull so must be pure for a crest.

Five toes is a dominant trait, so one of the parents must have five toes. It could be that the breeder has not noticed (though most would be very careful about conformation).

Looks polish to me but the 5 toes is obviously a conundrum. Possibly way back when a 5 toed breed could have been used/crossed into the polish to increase bloodline’s or for colour for example.
Here is a good read ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/how-do-5-toe-genetics-work.720696/

Breeds with 5 toes are silkies, houdans, sultans, Dorkings and faverolles. Some of these are also crested.

I had a polish frizzle hen with some feather on her legs which they should not have as a breed standard. I collected the eggs I hatched her from and looked at the parent birds. Neither of those had feathered legs so I put the leg feathering down to a gene showing itself from generations back.

Thanks for the replies! I was thinking Polish with something else a couple of generations back, possibly houdan, but this morning I noticed something else.

Are these silkied wing feathers coming in or am I just being paranoid? Soufflé is now two days old (50 hours since hatch).

This is Soufflé age 2 weeks and 5 days. Any way to tell if this a houdan or houdan/polish cross? The egg he came from was white shelled by the way.

Also doesn't he look too big for a bantam? All three chicks from the same batch of eggs are really big for their age (the other two have four toes and came from very light brown eggs so different mother I presume)

That is odd since polish I've heard are supposed to have white eggs. So its interesting that the one that is furthest from being polish came from a white egg while the others did not. Do the other chicks look like they have a standard polish color? (white crested black, gold laced, silver laced, etc)

@bantamsrmyfav The other two look like they are going to be completely black. None of the birds the seller showed in the photos of the possible parents were all black. It's very odd. They are so cute though!

Here is Soufflé with his fellow hatchling, Truffle at the front:
