What are sizzles?

Sizzles are a breed in progress and it's Silkie to Frizzle - with selection toward a bird with silkie features but curled normal(hard) feathers, like these two.

That is a fourth generation splash Sizzle Roo and a fourth generation blue hen.

The breeding also produces sizzles (small s denoting smooths) this is a smooth - my pet male (DQ comb and red face) and "frilkies" - curled silkie feathered birds like my ugly little friend here - also fourth generation.

The goal being a bird that meets the silkie standard in all areas except feather. They're very cute, they're also horrid little beasts, addictive, impossible to be rid of.

Petting a Sizzle will drive you to insanity and a completely helpless drive to acquire more. And the sheer hilarity of watching a curly feather duster attack a meadow is unmatched in the chicken world. They're useless, silly and evil... I need quite a few more...

WWD - you pet smooth male reminds me in coloring of my black copper maran but with a toupe.

I'm still growing out that blue one with the birchen chest and red in the wings just for you

He is evil and will steal your soul...

LOL Those are ridiculously adorable!!! LOL I've had frizzles and silkies, but never thought to cross them... LOL Too funny!!!

The Sizzles and the sizzle are cute, but I'll have to agree that the silkie-feathered-frizzle (can't remember what you called it) isn't the best looking one of the bunch! lol

Why did someone come up with this cross, just for the heck of it?

Post more pics...

Here are my sizzles I got from Jimnjay. I have 2 frizzle hens and 2 smooth hens. My frizzles and 1 smooth are blue and then I have a smooth splash.
