What are some good ways to help my baby chicks bond to me?

i have found sit at their level, in this pic i am on the bathroom floor wth them and let them just walk around, i end up with a lap full,

Just pick them up and hold them gently as much as possible. That's what I do with all the chicks I have raised.

I sit down in the back yard with mine and instantly have a lap full of teenage chickens. LOL. They're 5 weeks old tomorrow, so getting to be pretty good sized!

My wheaten Ameraucanas just love to be held, they fly right up onto my shoulder and expect to be cuddled, it's getting scary.. (but, my leghorns detest me)

Just be patient, move slowly, and cuddle them, let 'em run around on you. When you pick them up, try to scoop them up from underneath instead of over their backs (like a hawk!). Our 2 wk olds are getting used to being played with by DD (11yo) and seem to actually enjoy the human contact now.

When my chicks were little (Silver Pheonix and the Red Jungle Fowl -not the real Jungle Fowl) they were wild little buggers.. I sit out in the yard last year with everything I had while they were growing.. But those little chicks just didn't get friendly .. (Same with some Cayuga Ducks.. While the Rouen Ducks were very friendly.)

When they were big enough for the pen, I left them there a few days before I let them out..

Same with my turkey .. The turkey would follow me or feed around me, while the chickens would hit the edge of the brush..

It was over 3-4 months before they would come out in the large area within a few feet of me.. The rooster will even attack me when my back is turned...

One of the red ones has already went into the pot for attacking.. and today one of the silver pheonix hit my boot.. If it wasn't so chilly out and rainy, I'd been eating his leg tonight....
