What are the Best Breeds for a Quiet Urban Flock?

The store currently has Welsummer, Barred Rocks, and Golden Laced Wyandottes. Poulette seemed to have good luck with barred rocks and welsummers so I may give those a try.

Every individual will vary, but my Welsummer is the most talkative of my birds. No crowing, but her egg song (that she sings for herself and everyone else) carries about a good 1/4 mile. I can hear her while I'm out jogging.

When hens raise a rucus it usually means that they have recently laid. Therefor the quitest hen of all is those who aren't laying.
