Woo!! It's been a busy last few days of adulting. What fun!!:he

Although, I did get halloween costumes figured out! Were going as a chicken family. I'm gonna make the stroller look like an egg too, and were all getting candy this year!:celebrate:clap

Also got some hubs ordered for the jeep. I get to put them on wednesday evening. The bearings started making noise friday and it's annoying the poop out of me... dont worry, I didnt let good ammo go to waste though, I spent lots of time practicing aim.:thumbsup

Tried to get my older son to get the chicken rider costume so he could be the chicken rancher, but he didnt peck.... :gig

My "pet car" was an old orangey-copper Opel Cadet wagon. She was appropriately named "Pumpkin," and everybody who knew her loved her. Pumpkin and I were the tagalong on countless band trips throughout high school. At one point, we crammed in six kids (including two who should really count twice,) a bass drum, the glockenspiel, a dozen assorted clarinets and saxophones, a bass clarinet, an alto clarinet, the trunk with all the drum paraphernalia and a sousaphone with an oversized case. Someone out there has pictures ... I wish they'd shared!
Oh man, I'd reach out to someone on facebook or something. I bet that car was more packed than any clown car out there:gig
I may find myself in Reno at some point, visiting family ... Colorado isn't too far off the route! And the offer goes both ways ... If you ever find yourself visiting our nation's capitol, let me know. I'm close enough that we could go out for some real Maryland steamed crabs ... and the Atlantic Ocean is well worth the trip!
You bet your bottom dollar I'll get ahold of you if were ever out there. I LOVE crab, especially fresh seafood they just brought in that morning. Back in NC there was this little mom and pop place that always had their seafood flown in fresh that morning from the coast. It was never more than a few hours old. :drool

Omg... this is GENIUS!! Yesterday near the airport, there was a field of a bunch of prairie dogs. I wanted him to dress up in his costume and go stand in the middle of them so I could get a picture.

I'm not sure where it is, but somewhere here in colorado are a bunch of plague infected prairie dogs. I thought it was a pretty funny idea....

Here's the baby in his chicken costume:love

I almost want to make him wear it all the time... CHICKEN BABY!!:ya the dogs weren't sure what to think of the giant chicken in the house though. They're scared when the normal sized ones come in.

That is one happy chicken ... and totally 'n' completely CUTE! Those bright little eyes just smile right out at you!
Oh my goodness you haven't seen nothing! That little boy has the brightest blue eyes and the biggest smile ever. Lemme see if I've got any real good pictures on my phone. I just had to clear it off onto the computer cuz my memory was too full of chickens, and babies, and chicken butts, and doggies

Nope no really good ones. I'll get one today tho for sure. I'm gonna take the baby chicks out in their wire dog crate for some grass and sun time. The little baby loves being outside, sonic should get some good pics then

Awe crap. It happened..... First, let me explain myself.

I set 40 eggs in an incubator given to me. Only 3 hatched. I'm pretty sure all 3 are boys. I set another 30. None hatched. I was sad. Beginning of the summer I lost 3 (hatchery quality) Americauna to hawks.

Now for the story...

Hubby didnt want to go into town this time. I needed chicken food, so I took the oldest boy and went by myself. On the way there, i was asking my son, "do you think they'll have baby chicks there?" "Probably not, they haven't any other time." Was his response.

We walk in the door and, whaddya know? BABY CHICKENS!!!!!!!:barnie:celebrate

Well, the feed store is a dead zone, so no service to call and let hubby know what I was doing. The bin said "pullets", but we know how hatcheries and feed stores are. Of course no one knew what they were, but, I'm pretty sure I've got 2 americauna, 1 RIR, 1 white leghorn, and 2 chipmunk patterned guys.

My justification was, if I have to send the 3 to freezer camp, I need more chicks to replace them, and since hatcheries can't ever get anything right, I needed a good odds of getting at least a couple girls....

I'm now about to leave the gas station and head home with these guys in my sons lap.:love
