What are you baking now?

SunnyDawn - IF... I lived closer I would be over! lol

*** I gotta go check my strawberry patch right now! Got to eat a handful of strawberries the other day... yummy.

My friend's baby is having his first Birthday party on Saturday. So I said that I would make homemade hamburgers buns for it. Well, I was all set to put the first batch in at 9:30pm last night and hope I could stay awake for them to get done. I was silly (once again) and perched them on top of some jars to get closer to the under cabinet lights in hopes of speeding the raising process along. When I went to take them down they slipped, hit the counter

and immediately deflated

So they only thing I could do at that point was to reshape them, put them in the frig to slow raise and hopefully can finish them off tonight and they'll be OK.

I tell ya - seems like when you need it to go well - Murphy's Law always kicks in. I do have until 11:00am tomorrow morning if things don't go right tonight to try and pull this off.

After writing this post seems like I admit and whine about a lot of failures on here - are we seeing a pattern? Fortunately, the 5 pounds each of Potato, Marconi and Greek Orzo/Feta salad came out well and I only have to do a large Green salad from homegrown lettuce tomorrow morning.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Fresh strawberries, homegrown lettuce! I've gotta move out of Reno! We are taking a chance if we start planting now! 3 days ago it was snowing! I really gotta get back to the Bay Area where I could even grow citrus.

Sandee you whine all you want. It makes our mistakes seem less tragic when we can see how well you laugh your's off and just move on. When you first started your story I thought you were gonna say they all hit the floor. Glad to see they weren't all ruined.
Once, when trying to bake up a frenzy, I was making meringue cookies on parchment paper and right before I stuck them in the oven I decided to shake some of the nonpareils off of the paper (seemed like a waste to leave so many on the pan). Yep you got it, I tipped the pan over another pan to collect the extra and off went the whole sheet of meringues into a huge gloppy mess!
It always happens when I'm in a hurry since I don't stop to think. Since then I use binder clips to clip my parchment paper onto my cookie sheets before I put anything on them.

Thanks Sunny - glad to see that there are others out there that have fun in the kitchen too. I didn't tell you about the 1/4 cup of flour that I was adding to the mixer and the dough hook caught it and threw the flour all over me and the floor.

Was happy that I was home alone and there were no video cameras around.

Good idea about the binder clips. Those things come in handy. I use one on the edge of the pot to hold the thermometer when I make goat cheese.

Snow!? In May!? OK...that's too cold for me....and I'd be starving having to wait so late to grow a garden. LOL

Sandee - I use a binder clip to hold my thermomter when making yogurt, cheese, candies, etc.!
