Today is my sons 12th b-day... I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he wants white. So thats what I'm bakin

White b-day cake with cream cheese icing (make choc. chip cream cheese icing?)

I'm wanting to try my hand at pumpernickle bread today. Using the recipe that came on the package from King Arthur Flour Company. Will probably make a small batch of cookies too.

Has anyone here ever had/made salt rising bread? I used to have it when I was a kid in CA. Can't find it in stores anymore. Man oh man is it go o o o od toasted. Stinky while it toasts but it's a good stinky. LOL Really! I've had a recipe for years and still haven't tried it. I mean a lot of years. LOL Guess I'm afraid it won't be good and I'll have wasted my time. Dumb.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever made Jewish Apple Cake? Why has no one around here ever heard of it!!!? People look at me like I'm from Mars or something! I was thinking about making it for my co-workers and me who are unfortunate enough to have to work on Valentine's Day. And no, I'm not Jewish, like that even matters.

I mean good food is good food!
