What are you baking now?

I am trying Red Velvet cookies I found online, they look pretty, haven't made the icing yet, will let you know. They are a sandwich cookie. Made three batches of hot rolls, but tried a different bread machine I bought at the Salvation Army for $1.99 and am disappointed. Smaller than my original, and should have used it, but two batches turned out ok. We have our church dinner today, and I wanted at least three dozen, but going to have to be happy with the two. Making Mountain Dew Cake after church and lunch, and Neiman Marcus choc. chip. Granddaughters are here and we are putting cookie tins together for their teachers. I think treats area great gift for teachers.

You are welcome! Gave some to a neighbor as a gift and they called asking for the recipe too! Wish I could take the credit. The only thing I'd change would be the drizzle. 1 teaspoon of milk is not enough. I added at least a tablespoon and then a bit more to taste. I love allrecipes.com. Not only are there great recipies, but people rate the recipe and give tips on what they did to improve or make it easier. Hope your cookies turn out great!

OMG I am busy busy busy at the stove atm.

I just got done making oatmeal cookies for DH's lunches this week. I have a meatloaf ready to go for the morning that I just got done getting together. I have eggnog cookies ready to go in that are being given to the vet, and I made 2 batches of fudge today, and am making 2 loaves of cranberry bread in the morning for the staff there as well.

I love our vet...they have saved our kitties AND chickies several times, and we spoil them rotten. They get eggs when the girls are laying, and I make the staff treats for the holidays. They are just the best people around

For Gift Giving and Home..
Sweet Potato Cookies with Pecans & without, with brown sugar glaze and without
These are AWESOME!!! The recipe is actually an oldie for pumpkin... but we swapped out for homegrown frozen mashed sweet potatoes with WONDERFUL SUCCESS. They are also cute & small and are easy to pack as gifts

Sweet Potato/Pumpkin Cookies
1 cup Sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin (mashed sweet potatoes)
1/2 cup shortening
1 tbs grated orange peel (omitted for sweet potatoes version)
2 cup all purpose flower
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c raisins (omitted cuz we don't like them)
1/2 c chopped nuts

Set oven to 375
Mix sugar, pumpkin, shortening, & orange. Stir in flour, baking powder & soda, cinnamon & salt. Stir in raisins & nuts. Drop by TEASPOON full on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown 8-10 min. Remove immediately to cooling rack. Drizzle with glaze if desired.
Stir in 1/2 c chocolate chips instead of raisins.

Brown Sugar Glaze
1/4 Cup butter 2 cups Powdered Sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1-2 tbs milk
heat butter in saucepan over medium heat until VERY light golden brown. Stir in sugar & vanilla and milk until smooth. Drizzle QUICKLY over cookies & cakes

Dawnsuiter, thanks for the recipe...sweet potato cookies sound amazing. I am the only one who eats sweet potatoes but I bet those would go over very well.

Your very welcome! I was shocked to find the recipe had no eggs, or butter in it. They aren't too sweet IMO but you could try a batch and see if you want less sugar since we're using sweet potatoes instead of pumpkin. I think they are GREAT, breakfast worthy even without the glaze! The glaze IS very sweet.
