Ok I'm getting hungry now! Banana bread and coffee cake! Yum.... My DH would go crazy over that mississippi mud cake. He loves anything gooey and chocolatey. Thanks for the recipes!
I made some gump bread yesterday. Except this time when I went to roll it into a loaf, I spread cheddar cheese, italian seasoning, and garlic powder on it, then rolled it up. It was sooo good! It came out perfectly with a neat spiral of cheesey goodness in it! There's a slice left LOL! Im so happy Im learning to bake and can. This morning I made my DH some scrambled eggs (from the backyard) with a peice of fresh homemade bread and homemade blueberry jam. YUMMY!
Sounds delicious! I made Sandee's Buttermilk Soda Bread today. It tasted like the old fashioned muffins. It was good and very easy! Loved it warm with butter and honey. I used sesame seeds on top but they are very mild tasting for this buttery bread and I couldn't really taste them. I used the variation of 1/2 all-purpose & 1/2 whole wheat. Doubled it and 1 loaf (used loaf pans) is already gone.
Forgot the camera so I could show off pictures of my baking efforts this past weekend. I made San Francisco sourdough - not the real deal - but was yummy. Then I made a Blue Cheese/Mozzarella/Basil Focaccia that was so rich that we could only eat a small slice for lunch. I decided to stop being a whimp and knead the bread by hand. Well, I have to tell ya - after 10 minutes of kneading the ole' shoulders knew it!
Kim_NC must really be in great shape given all the bread that she makes. Really good exercise and hopefully will help with my diet right now.
Going to make fresh lemon curd tonight and a cheesecake to put it on! Did I say that I was on a diet!
well a small slice then. I'll post pictures tomorrow!
The cakes that jojo54 made look really good and had to wolf down my banana to keep from licking the screen since they made me really hungry!!
Ok I remembered to bring the camera in between getting out frozen pork chops for dinner and running down to feed the hens their morning treats of carrots, a little bit of bread and some spinach and trying to get to work on time.
Here are the loaves of bread that I made over the weekend. The first is the sourdough and the second is the Blue Cheese. Unfortunately, the picture of the Blue Cheese cut was not very clear but you get the idea from the cookbook picture.
Last night when I got home I picked some fresh lemons from my neighbors tree (with permission) and made fresh lemon curd to top another cheesecake from that recipe I posted earlier. Got the crust and first part of the cheesecake filling made but it was 9:30pm when I got that far since I had to stop in the middle and make dinner and clean up. So will finish the cheesecake tonight when I get home.
I'll try and get pictures of it too.
