I just took two walnut pies out of the oven. I made the crust and I cracked the walnuts last week after picking them up from the front yard! I must say, its so much more rewarding when you do all of the work.... more tiring as well.

I dont know...picking up and shelling walnuts sounds like a bunch of effort to me! I did do my own crust (even rendered the lard!) But the pecans are from the bag...maybe if I lived in GA....Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! Terri O

Get a spare chunk of 2X4 and drill an indentation into it. Then you can set the walnut on the indentation and whack it with a small hammer. They come out pretty easy.
 
I got sent home sick from work. So, I'm getting a head start on some cooking for Thanksgiving on Sunday.

Cranberries will be completely done by tonight, might start on the dressing...
