Very similar to what we are palnning, except the access to the nest boxes will be inside the shed part. We don't have any huge garden equipment. No riding mower or anything like that. But we do need some storage space for what we do have. Plus, we need to keep the chickens on the dwon low here, so what will be seen from the street will be the garden shed part. The coop and run will be off the back side and hidden from view.

Just about done on a Banty Townhouse. Then a second shelf system of quail cages. And a half dozen quilts (did I mention mynew sewing machine comes today?)

I somehow keeping getting more types of chickens and need to get my breeding pure so I need specific space. Everything will bein the large coop / run / flight pen area but need to make some special areas where stuff can be segregated. currently that is only Malays. Need more areas...now if only I could be consistent about what I am raising and not get more of this and that!

Very cool. When we ran the numbers on just a chicken coop, we would have been spending about $900! With this combo set-up, it's only going to be about $300 more.

In the end, it'll be tons cheaper than the ready to go storage building that they sell at Home Depot. Oh, and much better made here, too!

Definitely yes on the better made! Hubby works for a company that makes CAD software, so he is using that to design it. And this thing is going to be one solid, well-(read: over)engineered coop!

But it will be nice for the chickens and for keeping tools and such more organized and accessible. And now that the rain has stopped, we can begin the actual work!

We are building a Silkie breeding coop. I am cross colors of Silkies and starting new projects with these crosses.
