I want to make some too. I see pears, peaches, grapes, cherries. What else did you use? I was thinking of pineapple too. Do you raw pack or hot? How long did you process those quarts of mixed fruit? Thanks.

Thanks, I cold pack. I use pears, grapes, peaches, and maraschino cherries. Then I use a very light syrup 10.5 cups water to 1.25 cups sugar) and WB the quarts for 25 minutes. I imagine that you could do a tropical fruit cocktail as well.....now you've got me thinking

I agree I am feeling the same way, the older I get the less I let ppl push me around and the less guilty I feel for doing what I need to do not what others think I should do...

. I made vanilla pear butter in your honor. Sounds weird, but it's very tasty. I make my own vanilla with vanilla beans and vodka. Anyway. I ALSO made your caramel apple jam and homemade pectin today

I did not... both weddings cancelled on me. I offered free shipping, but apparently $500 was just not as good as a price as they were willing to pay... oh well!

Aww... that's sweet, but I can not take credit for this. I found the pectin recipe googling... and the caramel apple I found somewhere last year, or the year before. I changed it a little, but mainly it was from someone else's.

But that Vanilla Pear Butter sounds yummy. I have vanilla peach sauce that is amazing... Maybe you should sign up for the new canning swap Terri O is doing under the hobbies link like we did last month? (hint, hint!)

I think today I'm going to do some green tomato relish. It's getting too cold at night now for the tomatoes.

DH is getting me some pears to make more caramel spice pear butter. I have orders from work to make it

Not canning, but freezing.

Pumpkins I grew in my Barn Garden (composted manure only, heaped up out by a fenceline) went nuts.
I made a curry with one small one & only used 1/4 of the flesh to feed 2.
The rest is chunked & in freezer bags.

I need to get the wheelbarrow out to get the larger ones that are still sprawling into the pasture before the horses step on them.

Caramel pear butter sounds wonderful - recipe please!
