What are you canning now?

Nah... I work with hot peppers all the time. I'm used to it!

hehehe

I have poblano peppers, serrano peppers and these round peppers (sweet cherry? - but they are hot peppers too) Anyone have a recipe that I can use for these peppers? Haven't mastered pressure cooking, so it would have to be able to be water bathed.

Have you tried drying them? My husband always has way too many peppers so he always strings them to dry. We just toss them into what ever were cooking that calls for some spice & fire! I'm also gonna try to dehydrate them with my dehydrator. Works great for my tomatoes so I figure why not peppers too!

made vfem's mulled applesauce - filled the crockpot and got 4 1/2 pints. Yum! Also sliced a bunch of apple rings and they are drying as I type.

This week I did sweet corn, green beans, pickled banana peppers and hoping to do peaches this weekend. Next week hopefully grape jelly (never done this before so we'll see how it turns out!)

I've made a couple of batches of Dilled Zucchini, totally delicious. My brother took it all home with him, he swears there will be more zucchini

Anyone else grow Mangels? They are an heirloom beet that grow 20-30 pounds. I read about them in a farm magazine, writer said his chickens are Crazy about them and they store well. We'll see. They are up to about 5 pounds now. I give them to the girls as I thin them and they are pretty well gone by morning. I think they will probably be a little sweeter after first frost.

We planted both red and gold, I can't taste any difference at this stage.

this isn't canning, but you take the top off of the poblanos and stuff in a long wedge of quesadilla cheese wrapped with a piece of bacon. Then get a long toothpick and pin the top closed. Grill them.
that is the main reason I grow poblano.
