What are you canning now?

I love spiced apple rings but don't like the red food coloring.. I will try it without of maybe beet root powder.

I made a batch of Roasted Garlic Tomato soup last week, it is still in the fridge. I was going to can the leftovers last weekend, but we went camping. Do you think it is too old to can now, about 6 days old?

It might be.. try some first to see if it still tastes good, but I would definitely add citric acid and pressure cook it a little longer. I buy test strips to check the PH of any home canned food before we eat it. So far so good.

Good pace to get citric acid.. and other herbs, spices, and essential oils at wholesale prices is www.sfherb.com . They have a $30 minimum but you get a lb of citric acid for a few dollars, and they have a lot of great bulk teas, and their spices are very freshly savory!

Also they have cream of tartar $5.50 ish a lb!

Almond extract $11 for a pint!

I am so making this one!!

I just finished eating a PB&J sandwich with the Kentucky Bar Fight Jam. Delicious!!

Made a double batch of this to take to the farmers market where I sell jams & jellies. Brought 13 half-pints. Came home with 2 jars. Si this was a really good seller.

Had my first canning experience yesterday. Made a batch of rhubarb jam. My mom came over to help show me the ropes. It was such a blast!
