My rhubarb is coming in nicely! About another week and I can start making rhubarb conserves, relishes and other assorted goodies.

Silly Question here. What is a conserve? I mean what do you put it on or use it for? I have seen recipes in my canning books but.....
Im really not sure about what to use it for

It's a variation on a jam.

I've been up since 4:30 a.m. this morning preparing, cooking, preserving, etc. and I am finially done with 7 quarts and 5 pints of Vegetable Beef soup, 7 quarts of Beef Pot Pie filling, and 5 quarts of Pork BBQ.

I am so ready for the summer

Hope you are haveing a great canning time.

40.....count 'em, FORTY (my feet hurt!) pints of catfood, so now I don't have to deal with all that meat in the hot weather, I have enough to last until mid-September! And ten quarts of broth are cooling on the stove as well. The last pint went into the freeze and a cup went into me!

My strawberries are still green

I hope they start turning red soon. Maybe with all this rain they will get really big and juicy when the sun comes back out

I haven't started yet. I usually don't can my veggies, I freeze them and stick 'em in the deep freeze. I can all fruits I can get my hands on though. I can stews, jellies, and sauces too. It is so much fun to me. I just started doing it a few years ago. We try and stock up for the winter.

There are good suggestions on here. I might try some other foods I haven't done yet.

Mine are teasing me! They are a lovely rosy pink and have been for days! They are not turning red yet

We won't get strawberries for at least another 3-4 weeks. I'm eagerly awaiting them. I start summer saying. "strawberries are my fav fruit". Then raspberries are my fav, then cherries. Then it's blackberries, then peaches, then plums & melons...

Then it's October & all is gone!

May I ask what is your recipe for your cat food? I hate how cat food is fillers like commercial dog food. But my cat has to be on urinary tract cat food so I have limited choices in commercial food.

But never know what to make in homemade cat food.
