Thought I'd share this - being somewhat of a neat freak and since I give a lot of our jelly/jams away I wanted to create nice labels. I searched the Internet and found a source for round labels to print on the computer. The web site is "Online Labels.com". The 2" labels fit a small lid and 2.5" fit the wide mouth perfectly. The label cost about $12.00 for 1000 labels. Here is a picture

Was on craiglist this morning and called a guy about 50 canning jars & a canning pot. I didn't really want the pot but have friends who might, so I offered him $10. He accepted.

When I got the, he had decided to just GIVE them to me. ALL OF IT.

Don't you just LOVE great finds like that. One of the other farmer's in our area re-gifted to us 7 dozen quart jars! I was pleased since I only put up our jalapenos in quart jars since my husband polishes a quart off in about 2 weeks

Do I dream of goat cheese? DO I??? Oh heck yeah! It's my favorite. I made a pizza recently with goat cheese, caramelize onions, and red bell peppers. It was deee-lish.

We aren't zoned for goats where we are. We're dreaming of getting a bigger piece of property in a few years (0.5-1 acre) and will definitely get a goat so that we can have the milk.

I don't direct access to goat milk either - but I do have a Trader Joe's and they sell no hormone no antibiotic goat milk and it makes great cheese. Do you have a Trader Joes in your area. Or if anyone else reading this post wants to know how let me know and explain - so easy to make 2# overnight - so sweet and yummy! My family (even niece and nephew - picky eaters and tennagers) begs me to bring at every event or visit.

I canned sour cherries. We've had a wet spring and not as many cherries as usual. They are super easy and look so cool in the jars. My DH eats a quart every two or three days. This year the chickens discovered they can reach the cherries if they jump up, so needless to say the bottom of the trees are bare of cherries. He will re-prune them this fall so the cherries are more in the middle. If we drop one while picking them, the birds run pell-mell for them. It is rather comical.

Great canniing vibes!

PS I also made cheese this week, called Vtorog or curd cheese. If anyone wants the recipe PM me, it is super super easy. NO work at all, really.

This is our first year canning so we are still learning but I have canned lots of Pickles until the scovys ate my cucumber plants- I freeze the green beans and mexi bell peppers. Granny has started canning the beets and who knows what else.

What can you do with mass quantities of tomatoes?

Ok this morning I was able to get hubby up and outside to fire up the crawfish pot so we could mass can. This is what we ended up with:
Tomatoes, peppers of all sorts,blueberries,blackberries,rotel(tomatoes/peppers mixed.),garlic, and tomato jucie for some delish bloody marys later.
