How do you do your peach preserves? I want to do some with a whole basket full of peaches I have right now? I'm new at this, use simple words. HA!

I have a really easy way that I make peach jam and it taste great!

EASY PEACH JAM
3 cups peaches (peel and chop)
3 cups sugar
2 - 3oz. peach jello

Cook over a med heat until it is the thickness that you desire. Put in jars and give a 10 min. water bath.
Really quick and easy!

A quick google search turned up the link http://www.paulnoll.com/Oregon/Canning/canning-nectar-peach.html

I'm
gonna try it!

What kinds of things do you use it for? Drinking?? I have a bushel of peaches coming on Saturday and I can't wait to use them. I also want to do a shout out for www.bountifulbaskets.org they sell bulk fruits and veggies. I have got some KILLER deals through them!!

....I usually buy it in the can 6-8 0z. cans for almost $4....so this sounds real interesting to me! It's real thick...like thick enough to "roll" around your tongue.....so yummy

I have a juice machine and tried peaches without removing the skins. The juice is too gritty. I used apricots and it turned into apricot nectar, but the peach juice was thin. Next year I will peel the peaches first. When I make juice, I bring it to a boil, skim it if needed, pour into sterilized sealers and process in a hot water bath for 10 min. Works for apples, plums, grapes, etc. too.

10 pints, 9 half pints watermelon jelly
5 pints tomato sauce, not counting the amount hubby had for dinner
2 pints nacho rings
7 half pints lime jelly
Started peeling more garlic for a gallon of sriracha
Have 5 pounds of pears and 15 pounds of apples for tomorrow

Too tired to even write it up in the blog right now..................

I peeled pears for hours-and hours..., then made pie filling, the mincemeat in the ball book, and just plain canned pears in syrup. I was done by 11:pm.
I really do not know how you all do it.
I read this thread and I think,"How do they manage? Who cleans up the mess for them? They must have helpers! I am so exhausted..." ( and there is another tree to go!)

I am sorry you are tired, but now I know it isn't just my lack of superwoman-ness. This is real work!
...And then I have to find room to put all this stuff so we can sit down tonight and eat at the table. It has been two night of fast food in a bag. I hang my head in shame.

I was so tired last night I finished up some apple butter, started cleaning and fell asleep on the couch... later crawling to bed. I am actually almost satisfied with the idea the season is almost over!

Well I didn't even clean up last night

Haven't even looked at the kitchen this morning, though I did check the lime jelly..... didn't set so I get to redo it

Too much going on, not enough time, I have all those apples and pears plus a house I have to prep for a massive cross country move. Trying to decide on what to put in a yard sale.

Aww... didn't know you were moving!?

Yeah, I did manage to finish cleaning this morning. The dishwasher is running now. Going to run into town to get a few things at the grocery store, and stop by the farm stand to drop off more jams to restock them. I need to pick up some green apple I think. I really need to get to making some pectin again, I have 2 gallon bags of apple scrap in the freezer and I have more apples to peel today.

So tired of being busy... I could sleep for a week after this summer!
