What are you canning now?

Just made two quarts and a pint of Betty's refrigerator dill pickles. The pint is about half cucumber and half yellow squash. Can't wait to try them.

The corn is just started to tassle, the beans are blooming and got a bunch of tomatoes that should be ripe by July, 4th. Hope to get a lot of good stuff put up this summer.

Either at Ingles or Walmart, I disremember. They are not for any kind heat processing but are real handy for a jar of jam you are going to put back in the refrigerator or just general storage with a mason jar. We have been using the same ones for years. They wash up nice in the dishwasher.

Those are what the stores here call storage lids. You can use them in the refrigerator or to put on your cans on the shelf if you are worried about them getting bumped or not having lids (and you need your screw on lids for canning more items!). They aren't used to process anything hot, they are just plastic.

ETA: Never mind! lol. I started typing, got distracted by the kids and by the time I was done, it had already been answered. Sorry!

Dollar General has them for $1.00

Really?! ugh I wish our Dollar Generals would carry canning stuff! We have 6 dollar generals within 20 miles of us and NONE of them have canning supplies. I have asked before and they say there is just too many other stores that carry supplies. blah.

oh well I am not that worried since I bought the lids in bulk this year.

Do you know what brand the lids are? I prefer Ball or Kerr but will use others.

Canning newbie here. I don't know how to seach this, but, if the canned jar has bad stuff in it, will it loose the seal? And if you have a canned jar of chicken preasure canned correctly is only supposed to be good for year... will it loose its seal if it is bad?
