What are you canning now?

How about a personal question for all the canners on this thread.....

I would like to know about how old everyone is and how many years you have been canning.

For example,

I am forty something. I live in denial and refuse to admit exactly where I am in the 40 catergory!

This is my first year canning.

I remember my grandmother canning, but my mom never did.

I am making sure my daughter gets to help me with the canning this year.
I don't want her to grow up and wait as long as I did to try canning.

I always wonder this too. thanks for asking the question

I am 25 (will be 26 in Oct) This is my 4th year of canning, but my mom and grandparents always canned so I have been around it my whole life.

A few years shy of 40..... I don't remember NOT canning/freezing/preserving! Whether it was helping as a little one or doing it through college as a means to eat or now when I still do it to eat!

I'm 32 and have been canning for about 7 years. My mother didn't can but my grandmother did. I now use her wb pot. Its weird how attracted I am to old world things....guess I was born in the wrong century.

vfem - I'm sorry you've been sick and hope you feel better soon.

math - I'm close to 60. I've canned in younger days , straw. jam and tomato and carrots.

This year I'm back at it and did up some rasp. jam and currant jelly for the first time. I have done tomatoes for the freezer in previous years. This year I may do those too.

I hope to pick more berries today. Gooseberry and more currants.

take care

Hi! I'm 47, and I just started canning this year too. My first thing was bread and butter pickles, and then just last weekend, I made dill pickle spears.......I love doing it! I want to try several things. No more waste from the garden this year!

I feel this way too. I'm very attracted to things like gardening, canning, raising chickens for eggs.....I love earthly things, I guess....
