They are a stringless bush bean in the cranberry bean family. They can be eaten green as a snap bean, they can be allowed for the pod to become almost dried then shelled and canned, or they can be dried, shelled, and stored. I call these October beans. I have never eaten them in the pod, have started
letting them dry on the vines and vacuum packing.
