What are you canning now?

Yeah....I went to town for feed this morning...think I knew while I was there that I was OUT of canning jar lids?

Hey... me too!

Don't ask me how I managed to peel all those apple while watching tv, but somehow I got one last burst of energy. It should be done reducing this afternoon I hope. As soon as these apples are gone, no more canning this year. My sales have gone down quite a bit actually and I haven't recooped what I've spent on jars/pectin/sugar/ect enough to pay for any more. When I run out of jars, I won't have the money to pay for more without some increase in sales. So throwing my arms up on this one this year!

Who knows, maybe next year we'll get more local sales to make up for the slowing internet views.

Ok, for anyone interested, I started a FAN PAGE on FACEBOOK. This is for my jam business.

So I do show off product, but I will also share recipes, jam advice, baking stuff and eventually helpful videos. I also want people to come share on the page their experiences either with our business, or with making preserves and stuff. So... come LIKE us!!!

We work with a local farm with a certified kitchen now, good deal since we work a lot of trades into it. NC only requires inspects which are free. I've gotten a contractor out to see about building us a large kitchen on our property (making it look like a garage) so we can do more and offer wholesale locally.

That's AWESOME! So... do you run your sales through them too? THAT would be very helpful I'd imagine.. and save money on all those business costs. But is it complicated in a different way?

Thanks for sharing, I'm considering renting a space in town... was wondering.

Why don't you try to rent a kitchen from a bakery or something in town for hours used? Maybe they'll even carry your items. The farm we work with sells us as well, so its a great balance.
