What are you doing for Earth Day/ Arbor Day?

OMG I hated when my daughters school had that old tire crap on the playground. Practically the first day of school in new white shoes and she comes home with black rubber marks all over them.

I've never done anything specifically for earth day and don't plan to start now. But today I am going to pot some sunflowers that I have had germinating. I am waiting for the burn ban to be lifted so I can burn some brush. But we were thinking of renting a wood chipper and using the chips around the dirt strip between the house and the walkway.

The last several years I've organized a group of people to tidy up the shoreline of a nearby cove and the roads around it. During winter storms, a lot of ocean & fishing debris gets washed up on the shoreline.

This year's cleanup will be Saturday.

ya need to get you some baby seal, spotted owl, and bald eagle and have a BBQ. i'd suggest some Alabama cave shrimp and Apache trout for that surf and turf effect... toss in some Elfin tree fern for garnish and you're good to go .

My class did projects on the rise and decline and certain elephants, their habitat, what is affecting it and how, what humans can do. They also studied the rain forests and the human and animal effects and affects.
Oh yeah, we are doing a clean-up project tomorrow here at school and the road and desert in front of it.

If you aren't interested in Earth Day, then why bother posting in this thread? There are many of us who are, no one is holding a gun to your head telling you you have to participate

My mom is celebrating her 60th Birthday on Earth Day as well! I'm gonna have flowers delivered to her work place... with a possible singing telegram (if I can find one!). Shhhhh.

ETA: Me and my DD's are also taking her out to see Disney's Earth in the theaters, and then dinner at a restaurant afterwards.

First I'll take care of my brooder, then go to work. After work I plan to plant flowers & herbs, pet my peas, spinach, radish & lettuce seedlings and tell them what a good job they're doing. I will also cheer on my cute itty bitty strawberries, harvest more asparagus for dinner, and think again about thinning and replanting my Walking Onions.
While I do this 13 chicks will play in the sun while 9 adult chickens roam the yard and eat all the bugs except the tent caterpillars.

After dinner I'll help my baby pack for her very first school trip. Her band is competing in FL. I'm trying not to think too much about it lest I panic and 'forget' to take her to the bus

And after that I will make another felt chicken while DH watches something on TV.

I wanted to plant trees(some Redbud trees), but DH says it's too late in the year. Mom says it's not too late yet (Never plant a tree in a month without an R in it.) but I don't want to argue with hubby.

My 3 itty bitty Redbuds from the Arbor Day Foundation are doing quite well so far, at least. But they look like twigs with leaves
