Atlas Shrugged as a good story but I can't stand Ayn Rand. Her philosophical views became sacrosanct, and huge portions of US economic and political philosophy were based on her ideas. She was a novelist! And her world view was extremely narrow.

How about Jihad Vs McWorld by Benjamin Barber. He accurately predicted pretty much all of the last almost 20 years and he still seems to be on target.

Or, What's The Matter With Kansas? I forget who wrote that one.

Watership Down was one of my favorite stories when I was young! Ooooh, I know has anyone read A Canticle For Liebowitz??? I adore that story and THAT sticks in your head. Never could figure out why it wasn't required reading.

Canticle is one of my all time favorites!!! What an incredible book...

I guess the next book I read is going to be Watership Down. It sure popular around here!

One author I haven't seen mentioned on here is J.D. Robb. I know that Nora Roberts writes under that name but the J.D. Robb books are great. I would love to see them made into movies.

Anyway, I am currently reading From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz.

I love Patterson, Johansson, Roberts, Cussler, shoot, just about any book I can get my hands on.

I followed this on Nancy Grace also and I cried during almost the entire thing. I think frying this woman is too good. I have a really good (or bad depending on what your view is) imagination and I can think of a lot of things that this woman should be put thru. I had to finally quit watching cause it upset me so much. I have a 16 yr old son and a 6 year old daughter and I just cannot fathom ANYONE doing what she did to her child. I will shut up on that subject, it is a touchy one for me.

I see you are in Church Hill, TN! I used to live in Kingsport. My best friend lives in Church Hill. I cannot believe how much that area has grown! I will be heading up that way tomorrow. My son lives with my ex in Kingsport and he has a AFJROTC competition on Saturday at Daniel Boone High somewhere down near Johnson City. Hope the weather is good!

I'm listening to this right now (not as we speak, but as I drive LOL).

It's 30 discs, and I'm on #20.

I've gotten so hooked on audio books! This one is so gripping, I can't even imagine reading it. I never thought I'd say those words.

I've been a tremendous reader all of my life, and a huge Stephen King fan. I've gotten so much more into audio books than actual reading lately. I feel like I'm going to be struck down for saying that! LOL I have to blame it on my commute!

I've also read/listened to nearly all, if not all, of Jodi Picoult, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz, Janet Evanovitch (it's a Jersey thing!), I could beat myself for not recalling the author of the Kay Scarpetta books, Ed McBain, Joseph Wambaugh, and I can't stay up all night doing this!

I haven't done many audio books. I usually listen to cds and sing along while driving. I do enjoy all the authors you have mentioned. Patricia Cornwell writes the Scarpetta books. Another along the same line is Kathy Reichs and her Tempe Brennan books. Boy oh how I love Janet Evanovitch!! Stephanie Plum and her friends and family make me laugh out loud. I LOVE her books!!
