WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

Received 8 BLRW today from Sunset Meadow Farms. No heat pack for the 2 day journey.... 2 chicks don't look so good. I have given them both a drop of Nutri-drench and a little water by dropper. How often should I do this and anything else I should be doing?

Oh goodness... :-( I have no idea about that, but the poor littles... I hope they make it and everything!!

RC4U & WNY EGGER: Yeah I know. The brooder pictured here is only temporary. I had a brooder all set up out in the barn, but then the temperatures plummeted and I had to bring them into the house. I plan to have an enclosed "kiddy pool" set up, but the main issue right now is the cold temps, so they'll be in the house for a short time until the temps improve. Having them in the house helps with the taming down anyway. A lot easier to handle them consistently when they're not in the barn.

Hubby is working on a grow out pen/second coop for me as well.

You know some peoples family members work for the post office

My mother works for the post office and she is definitely smarter than most. I do believe we need to all think before we talk bad about others knowing that we all have family members doing many different jobs

Oh, I just blame my accent. It was a simple misunderstanding, and we both thought it was pretty funny.

I understand that but sometimes it kind of gets to me when others down the PO when my mom and her fellow workers try so hard here. Everyone has had bad experiences everywhere but it seems like the PO gets it the worst.

Yeah, we have a great PO! I know they'll be looking out for our chicks, and that makes me feel good.
It has to be tough being the only establishment in the country that ships chicks. You get all the good feedback AND all the bad.

That is very true. The other shippers would most likely be even worse. They are even worse than the PO with throwing packages around and having things broke. I know its not their fault b/c they are made to go so fast or lose your job, they can't even keep up with what they have now.

I got the date of my shipment!!!
So anytime after May 19th I am going to be a new mommy to 15 new baby chicks =)
I think the bubbles of excitement came through when I was telling our post master
about them. She told me I need to wait till its closer to time to remind her....lol

Awesome! I have shipping in on the 28th of this month. 20 chicks and 3 ducklings. I took your advice and called my post office. They were really kind about it and had to make sure that it was routed locally because some of the smaller town post offices use the larger towns as distributions. Make sure that is not the case in your situation! Good luck!

Oh this is a good idea because I know our mail goes through St. Louis
before coming and going out of our small town. I will check with the post master
tomorrow.
