WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

Look who peeped in this morning.... I just love how that little black one was checking out the camera! hahaha Now, I must figure out what they all are. Quite a few polish in there, and cochin. I think I have a buff easter egger. But I will probably need help to figure all that out. I did however lose two in travel. Wahh! And I have one that Im worried about. It seems very worn out, I got it to take some drinks of water but even with everyone jumping on her, she won't stand all the way up.

^This is her. I picked her up and she just nestled into my hand, didn't even open her eyes. Im gonna keep watching her she seems like she is very sweet. One of the buff's is VERY curious. If I stick my hand in at all, she is right there to investigate. I moved the feeder and she jumped everyone to get to it and see what I did! I can tell she is going to be a goofy one. And for polish to be kinda considered the "dumb" birds, they took right to eating and drinking the quickest. Well, had to update this morning! I was SO happy to get that call! They made it!!
How darling you but be so excited! cheep-cheep lol

I AM!!!!! hahahaha The buff easter egger actually has a prolapse.

So she was separated, actually my mother took her to try to nurse her back. We will see how she does though. She kinda seemed in pain. So, we *may* have to do the humane thing.

BUT! As for the others they are just doing their chick thang! I have 6 polish, I think that 3 are white crested black polish, and 3 are golden laced polish. I have cochins, 2 white, a few golden laced cohin, and I MAY have a silver laced cochin. Im waiting for my kids naps to go out and sit with a pen and paper to really go through them. I think I have some barred rocks and maybe EE's/ Wellsummers?? Gotta wait and see! hahaaha But they are super sweet!

Your mom sounds a lot like my mom.

Keep us posted on the buff chick!
So happy to hear that your fluffy babies have arrived. Have fun during nap!

LOL My mother was so excited about them all, she called me early this morning to hear all about them and the minute I started to explain this little one she was like "Im on my way over!" Works good for me, cause I am NOT good at culling. And if the need be I didn't want to have to do the deed.....I may be a bit of a softy. But in my defense...i'm pregnant? Can I use that as an excuse? Well. I am!! I called a little bit ago to check on her and she said she is still the same.

We shall see! The others are doing so good though. They are all quiet and settled right in. They actually seem very people friendly. If you stick your hand in they will come right over and hop on it. My little 3 year old son had one just DART to get to him. (SHOCKER cause he can loud and little more excitable cause he is so little, my son that is.) So I thought for sure these chicks would run from him if anything. hahaha But they seem to brave and nosy! lol

Haha. Friendly is good! We also have a 3 year old son (and a 5 year old, and a 5 month old!), so I'm anxious to see how good he is at being gentle with them. I want to start out on the right foot and not end up with three sons who try to chase chickens around the backyard when I'm not looking. I remember doing something like that with my aunt's sheep when I was a girl.

LOL! I have a 4.5 year old daughter, a 3 yr old son, and pregnant ! hahaha My daughter is very gentle with animals always has been. My son can be the ones that you have to watch. But I just remind them that the rule is you have to be quiet to not scare them, and I let them stick their hands in and hold a little feed in their hands, but I don't encourage them to pick them up yet. I wanted the help the chicks to get a little older and hardier before they get ruffled up like that! LOL But I was raised with chickens...and i recall chasing them when I was younger too! HA!! Or I would ride through them on my bike. I'm shocked my mother didn't grab a switch and get me for it then! hahahaha

I really suggest having probiotic and electrolytes on hand in case you do! I had probiotics in the water for them, but I made up the electrolytes just in case i saw any that were "fragile" and it help a few perk, but that one sweet one just broke my heart. She nuzzled into my hand seriously as she passed. My kids and I were singing when it happened. I'm actually pregnant and dealing with morning sickness, and this had me so worked up I got sick. I was like oh my lanta, if anyone could see me they would think I was such a mess! hahahaha I hope your babes are healthy and peepin' when they arrive!! I can't wait to see them!!

Here is the run down, I THINK,:

3 White Crested Black Polish
2 Golden Laced Polish
1 Silver Laced Polish
6 Golden Laced Cochin
2 White Cochin
6 Barred Rock
2 EE or Wellsummer

There are 2 here not accounted for. lol But I think its cause there was one that I didn't know what it was, and then I over looked one I guess! lol

I have 26 chicks in my brooder. I had to go to Roanoke to pick them up, to prevent another day of shipping. (thanks dad for helping with that). I lost one of my polish.

Everybody else is doing fine. My brooder is 12 Square feet, and only a little section is uncovered. Sometimes I'll lean over and caw, like a crow, and all of them will run to 'safety' under a cover.

All of their instincts work well.
