My chicks did not show this morning!

Im really hoping that maybe someone missed the memo, and they will be delivered at my door with my mail but I have a gut feeling, I won't be seeing them till later like tomorrow, or later in the week. Tracking info said today, but there is no update about it being at my post office, although, Im not sure if it would update again or if it would once they were delivered? I didn't sleep a wink cause of all the excitement, so in grave need of coffee this morning!

Promise to share pictures....whenever these little fuzz balls show up!

aw im sorry.. i havent even recieved a tracking number for my chicks that are supposed to ship today..... im nervous..

canceled my order with Ideal cause for whatever reasons they wont have standard chicks till may. so i pulled up metzer and am getting 2 khaki campbell, 3 welsh harlequin, and 1 blue runner ducks all female from them instead. they should ship out 2 weeks from today on march 24th

see thats why i didnt order from ideal they said they wouldnt be able to ship till june or july!!!

well they were gonna ship those 5 that i was on waitlist for but i bet there would of been packing peanuts and i really need the the leghorns but oh well i can try ordering them lat april since they say their'll be more in may

They are scheduled to ship on April 28th, barring any surprises with hatching, so we still have over a month to wait. We ordered from My Pet Chicken (so, Meyer) because we didn't want to order extra that we didn't need, but I'm thinking of looking for local hatching eggs whenever we need/want to add to our flock.

We had the same idea as one of the earlier posters - lots of variety so our boys can tell the difference between them! Our oldest son (5) plans to name one of them Leah. That would have been his name if he had been a girl.

Our 3 year old was originally planning to name one Mama/Mommy

, but now he seems to have settled on Cherry the Chicken.
I'm thinking of some names from family and friends who are no longer with us - Fern, Pearl, Gloria, and Margaret.

Right now I'm still in the planning stage - gathering supplies, working on the brooder, asking questions of other chicken owners - but I wanted to make sure I ordered early(ish), to get most of what I wanted. We ordered in late January. The only breeds I didn't manage to snag were Dominiques and Welsummers. We'll try those another time.

I'm looking forward to doing all of this for the first time.

Wow!! There are SO many waiting on their new bunches!! Can't wait to see all these new little faces around here! My chicks never showed today! But the post office was really great and told me they would call with each truck tomorrow morning (5am & 7am) to let me know if they show up! I figure if I don't see them tomorrow I will contact the hatchery! But I feel confident I should see them tomorrow morning....I hope!!!
