Mine are in an attached garage! So right outside of the kitchen. They can hear my kids yelling and jumping and pans banging! LOL I get ya wanting them to hear! Totally do!! hahaha The biggest reason I wanted the shed it has cement floors. So it will be easier for me to clean out and I think it would be easier and cheaper to set it up with windows and vents. My BIGGEST thing is its closer to the house. If any wild animals bothered them, I would hear it and could reach them faster. oy vey. Dont even want to think about that! LMBO!

Mine are in a 6 x 6 area of a 20 x 20 shed. It works out great for me. The floor is concrete and the only problem is dust from them. I may put up plastic to keep the dust down. I keep my mower and other equipment in the shed. I use a automatic chicken door for outside access for them. I love it.

CAN I GET SOME HELP PLEASE?!?!?!?

So my gold laced wyandotte chick is being picked on by the four others (silver laced wyandotte, black austrolorp, buff orpington, barred rock).. like they have shunned her? i put some oats in my hand and set it down and all of them came to eat and they wouldnt let her in.. and i noticed one side of her feathers looks a little slim... like picking? is there a way to deter them from picking on her?

I just dont know what to do to help her.. She seems sad compared to all the others.. I expected there to be a pecking order but at 3 days old.. i did not expect this.. makes me so sad..

I agree with Shido Burrito, that it very well could just be pecking order, but I would really watch her and be sure she is eating and getting water. Sometimes other birds can sense when one is ill or sick. It also could mean that they need more space? But I have seen where your keeping them, and I have seen LARGER flocks held in the same space just fine. So I think its probably one the other two more so to watch for!

Sounds like pecking order. Let them be chickens. You don't need to be mother hen.

50 Black Australorps. They came from Mt. Healthy Hatcheries but I ordered them through a local hardware store. I trade with them a lot. One day the owner was telling me he wanted to try being a chick dealer. he order them as part of a 400 chick order. I also picked up 4 easter eggers since he had them. The owner through I. a couple of the mystery chicks the hatchery added.
Wouldn't you know it. low is 27 tonight. had to make some last minute modifications to the brooder.

Well we gave in at Costal today and picked up three Easter Eggers and a bantam Turken. They're so sweet! I'm so happy to have chicks in the world again. They'll get tons of love and attention while we wait until June for our others to arrive.

I ordered up 4 slw, 4 glow, and 4 speckled Sussex . Super excited. Getting them from a lady in my state. Now just hope the weather cooperates and I can build my 8x10 coop. No way can all these gals fit in my tiny 4x6 coop. It didn't take long for chicken math to hit. My husband thinks I have lost my mind.
