I picked up my day-old white leghorns today. I ordered 12, but they sent me 13!




The dog crate is obviously a temporary accommodation as it's going to get cramped in there pretty quickly!

And here's one of my pooch being (surprisingly) calm around the new arrivals that have invaded her house.

you might want to get an actual chick waterer they can and will drown in a water bowl that big ....

Yes chicken math at my house is more like chicken multiplication... Started with 4 adopted Leghorn hens full grown. Then 2 EE, 2 SLW, 2 JG & 2 BB chicks from the feed store. Then 5 frizzle chicks, 9 BLRW chicks mail order and a hatching order for 8 more. So what started as 4 now has become 34. Lol. Had to build a new coop before the 1st one was even 2 weeks old.

oh my make that 35...just bought a beautiful black frizzle rooster!

I ordered from Cackle on Saturday and we are anxiously awaiting a shipping date. I think I will call them tomorrow because I didn't realize I could pick them up there and we are only about an hour and a half away.

We are getting:
5 Easter Egger pullets
1 EE cockerel
5 Golden Laced Wyandottes
5 Silver Laced Wyandottes

I've been reading this whole thread tonight and I love sharing in all of your fun getting chicks!!

I am waiting patiently for our first 6 chicks. Visited a friend who has 22 and is getting more so I can see how this gets out of hand. The waiting is killing me, but I have a few things left on the coop (more than a few) so I will be busy. We chose Easter Eggers to start since I love colored eggs. Come on spring!

Wow, what I am getting has drastically changed today. I called Cackle today to see if I could pick up my chicks and to see if they had a date yet. They didn't even have my order in one offices computer! They had to transfer me, the second lady I talked to found my order and said that they didn't have any kind of shipping date yet.... which made me nervous. They were very super nice on the phone btw.
So I poked around a bit and found EE's that will ship from Meyer on Monday!! So I canceled my order from Cackle and ordered all of this from Meyer!

I'm anxiously waiting with you. I am a huge fan of anything colored green so the EE's were a pretty obvious choice for me!! lol.

yeah i dont think what you just said would make me want to order from cackle.. like ever lol.. that would make me nervous too... i ordered all mine from chickensforbackyards.com all arrived healthy and alive they are now almost 4 weeks old and i couldnt of had a better first time experiance!!!

my 6 ducklings from Metzer's finally arrived this morning and so far all 6 seem to be doing very well. will get pics of the cuties asap for you all to melt over
