WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

I ordered my five from a local hatchery a few weeks ago. I am picking them up on 4/26. I ordered 1 Buff Brahma (Sunny), 2 Ameraucanas and 2 Cuckoo Marans. The other four will be named after egg dishes as well.

It is taking every bit of restraint in my soul not to go to TSC or another feed store and just get babies now. I've even found myself on CL looking for pullets. I would love a Black Copper Marans and a Lavender Orpington... :/

This is my first foray into chickens and the dreaded chicken math is happening before I even have my first chicks! HOW AM I GOING TO FIGHT THE MATH. It happened when I first got ferrets, too. They warned me... ;)

My kids loved the video and can't wait to try it out themselves! My oldest son is constantly finding big crickets for his lizard to eat so I'm sure he will be doubling his efforts for the chicks!
I bet they are driving you a little nuts! Just think of all of those lovely eggs you will have in a few months!

...... I'm off to stalk wyandottes on chickensforbackyards before hubby gets home from work.....
try chicken hill poultry.com. I called to order fertilized eggs for hatching and 3 days later received 9 (1) extra BLR wyandottes. Super healthy and Tisha was very helpful during my first chick order.

That's so funny! I wanted a few chickens for meat and eggs, and before I knew it, I had ordered 32! I hope to start building the new coop this weekend. 8x16 with 18 (double stacked) nesting boxes.  The funny thing is, I'll be starting with chicks, so they won't need the boxes till sometime this fall!

I purchased a prefab coop from Costco for my 4 hens. Then when I decided to raise BLRW, I needed something a lot larger but needed to build in a budget. Found pallets from the local hot tub store and now have a 8'x8' coop we built in 2 days. Just missing the nest boxes and a few finishing touches. It was a family affair and the most fun we have had in a long time!

hmm planning on expanding a lot you only need one nest box for every 3-4 hens..which are like little kids they all want the same box anyway.I have 5 hens in one of my coops 3 nests they all lay in the same box every day...the mey change which one but all the eggs are always in one box.they stand an wait for each other to get done
