I will have to take pics when mine get here. I am going to be ordering them all on Tuesday, I hope they will be here by Friday at the latest. Of course though I may have to video tape myself opening up that box. Its a surprise box, so I have to wonder what all will be in it. I hope above all else that they do not put a goose in it. I don't like geese. I had enough of my aunts geese chase me as a kid.

It may be funny now, but back then it wasn't funny at all.

you can order Icelandic chicks from sandhill preservation center in Iowa...they carry most of the rarer breeds.

Where are you getting them from?

They're here! All 32 chicks (we ordered 30) are alive and well. The invoice says they sent 1 extra Blue Andalusian rooster and then the other extra appears to be a Polish. I'm not entirely sure yet. It has a crest and no leg feathers.

Right after going into the brooder:

You can see the crested chick right in the center. It's smaller than all of the other chicks.

They are settling in and spreading out in the brooder now. Not to mention going to town on their food!
look how cute and tiny they are.. mine are already 4 weeks old and im wanting ur little ones lol

After buying 16 chicks of various types last year, we have decided to add to our flock this year with started pullets from Moyers Hatchery in PA. http://www.moyerschicks.com/

We are scheduled to pick up 8 - 17 week old pullets in June. They are a hybrid cross between a White Rock egg-layer type female and a Rhode Island Red male. They will produce eggs a few weeks after you pick them up and adjust to their new environment and should be producing 270-300 eggs by 72 weeks of age.

If these work out, we'll get more next year.
