WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? WHAT DID YOU JUST RECEIVE?

What are straight run chicks? I'm picking up my chicks next week. Started off with 13 now down to 11.

Well Seana,,, a "straight run" of chicks means they have not been "sexed." They could be all roosters

, all hens
ya.gif
, or most likely a mix of both

Here's hoping you get mostly hens. Lets watch and see

I can not seem to figure out how to post this as a new post in emergency/ diseases

If you go over to emergencies/diseases/injuries and there is a blue button that says "start a new thread", that will give you your own thread for people to answer you :) I do know that I had a chicken that laid something similar and I have seen on here some people post similar things....I can't tell you what it is though. But mine went from not laying, to laying that, to laying soft shelled eggs, to laying normal again. Maybe sometimes they have to get the "kinks" out?

I am just now learning about chickens. The kind of person who likes
to study something inside and out (yeah I know gross) but it goes back
to nursing school days.
Anyway, from the looks of this picture and what I have studied they
are the ovaries of the bird. Why/what happened to your chicken don't know.
The first pic posted looks like the crop or mesentery of the bird.
There was a post some time ago I was reading called "Chickens sleeping on
their backs". Anyway in that post is a diagram of a chicken showing the internals.
I found it interesting but then again I'm weird like that.
I know this is not much help but it might give you an idea of what you are looking at.

sorry for your loss =(

when I first seen them in a pic I thought right away they looked like ovaries..but was waiting to see what everyone else said or thought they might be ..have to assume she stopped laying ..
