I'm getting my first birds on 7/8 from McMurray!
1 Black Australorp hen (my choice)
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte hen (my hubby's choice...good choice! I love Wyandottes)
1 Partridge Rock hen (both our picks since we both wanted a Rock)
2 Cayuga duck hens
1 Cayuga duck drake (can't have roosters, but I can have a drake!)
1 Rare breed mystery chick (McMurray's choice of sex and breed).
12 Red Rangers
I do have experience with chickens and ducks, I just haven't done it since I was 12 years old! *blows dust off of brain*
Our contractor is downstairs right as I type getting things set up for some renovations to our home, part of which is going to be the coop! Our coop is going to be part of a new deck setup (the deck we have is a safety hazard and literally being propped up by cinder blocks) and he also has chickens of his own, so he's really excited about creating this for us. Everything will be ready long before the chicks even arrive, and then of course they will be in the brooder for a while before they even get to try it out.
The deck and run will be a total of 10 x 24 and we can only have 6 birds in our city (anything under 12 weeks does not count and the rangers will be butchered at that mark) so they are going to be SUPER spoiled with all that space. XD
Not sure what the "mystery chick" will be, but if it's a rooster it will become soup, if it it's a hen I may keep, sell, or eat her depending on what she is and whether our choice picks for layers turn out alright.
