What are your 2021 garden ideas?

My family is loving the Celebration Squash we planted, they grew well are beautiful to look and and taste awesome. We will definitely be adding more next year. In fact we will be adding more varieties of summer and winter squash, it's healthy, grows and keeps well, and my critters love when I share! I would love to everyone's favorite squash varieties.

I have very good luck with butternut squash. This year will be a low harvest: only 30 or so. One year I had 87! Unfortunately, it was in my pre-chicken days, or I wouldn't have had to throw out some that finally started to rot in March.

I like these for several reasons: LOTS of flesh in each squash, the seeds are great for toasting like pumpkin seeds, and they get sweeter as they sit in storage. They are also an heirloom variety, so I can save the seeds to plant the next year.

I only have one raised bed so I will probably just do my usual. Roma and better girl tomatoes, for salsa and canning. Blue lake green beans and danver carrots for canning. Ive done sweet and regular potatoes but didn't get much. And onions and peppers of course. I would love to get another couple strawberry plants for jam. Anyone know if I can plant them now in northern Ohio, so they will produce next year?

Last year, my neighbor did this. We are west central Ohio, so maybe *slightly* warmer than you, with maybe a *slightly* later frost. He found a place that sold strawberry plants (not sure if bare root or not) and planted 2 rows. Mulched heavily with straw once temps were constantly 25F or lower - he followed the instructions he was given by the seller(?). Then in the spring he waited to uncover them until it was fairly warm. We had a really late freeze in May, and he may have actually waited to fully uncover them until after that.
