What are your chicken goals

Pics
What mixes or breeds do you have currently?? What are the eggs gonna be??
Thanks for asking! I love talking about them :D

From oldest to youngest:
5yo gold laced Barnevelder
5yo black Australorp
3yo blue Silkie x Australorp x Araucana?
3yo gold laced Wyandotte x Silkie?
2 2yo ISA Browns
15 week old speckled Sussex (might be a cockerel)
15 week old silver grey Dorking
15 week old blue laced Barnevelder
2 eggs Australorp x ISA Brown
1 egg Australorp x Silver Sussex

Since you are not going to be able to offset your cost at all. You may want to forgo the dual-purpose breeds all together. Since egg specific breeds and fast growing, meat breeds. Will way out produce a dual-purpose breed in either aspect. Even the slower growing, more sustainable meat type birds. In my opinion you would be time and money ahead. To go with separate flocks of egg and meat chickens. With dual-purpose breeds you will still more than likely have to separate the roosters you plan on processing. As they will probably reach maturity and be excessively, harassing your hens. Before they are freezer wrap ready.

Gorgeous, LUVABLE, SWEET PETS!!!
Lauren Taylor & Anna Whybrew has inspired me far too much! I should probably just try to buy one from her but there's so much fun and learning for grandbabies in hatchin eggs!
So these are my two goals...
Both are Satins
Mille fleur and Porcelain colors!
In just 18 months I have finally hatched (7 different hatches) the colors I need! Still learning genetics and a few I need to rehome but I'm attached to em.

Thank you!! These are some good thoughts, and definetly things to consider!
We did the meat bird thing before and I just felt sorry for them being unable to remain as active as their peers.

I was thinking of making a camp cockerel pretty much like @3KillerBs has made.

5 EE
1 bantam cochin (cockerel)

My goal, 1st and always is a happy healthy flock -thank you byc community for the assist!- I started with enough chickens to supply dh & I plus neighboring aunties + sold a few on the side. When pandemic hit I quickly adjusted to be able to breed and incubate to help my island community further and also offset my rising costs. I now sell my happy free ranging eggs and chicks for less than big box stores.
I am a fan of Brahma's and their beautiful, functioning yard art and charming dispos. I sell pure and barnyard. I would like to add Blue Partridge Brahma's to my flock and Dark Brahma's back into my flock once my Light B's phase out.

I sell & give lot of eggs, I sell a few chicks and pullets & cockerels here and there, some for nonprofit and try to promote happy chicken keeping ease. It is a beautiful juggle and my perfect-ish balance would be 25 hens/pullets and 2 roos. (I currently have more so will sell off a few young and regain my balance till I hatch again) I don't cull.

Best of luck to all with their great chicken adventures! 😁🤙

I have also started sewing feed bags to keep them out of the landfill and for nonprofit fundraising.

Expanding my fundraising is a big goal also.

♡ Thank you! And agreed about byc!!

Bags are fun and beautiful. Wanted to sew them for eggs sales but too cool to limit to only that 😁
I forgot to add that I also sell and give my chix compost. Such an awesome full circle blast!
