My moms house is pretty close to Boston and right in the flight paths. So they can be pretty low. Sometimes low enough to read the tail to find out which airline. Back in the day the Weymouth Airstation was open and my mares would freak out when one of the jets or the bigger planes flew over, nearly an hourly occurrence. Took the girls a while to relax about that.
Where we live now we have a small municipal air port. Those planes and pilots are the ones that scare me. A few years ago they were dropping from the sky on a pretty regular basis. We arent near the airport, but I still get nervous when I hear them flying over
