Hello all,
Do you have cute names for your chickens? Post them here! Feel free to post ideas for names, your favourites, and of course your chickens names! Please do not steal names without the permission of the provider! Enjoy!

Our ladies are named Atilla the Hen, Gloria Grainor, Henny Potter, Proff. Magoneggal, Eggetha Christi and so on so forth! We theme our hens as we get a new bunch every year, this years group is going to have the following names assigned: Scrambles, Sunnyside, Omeletta etc!

My wife insists that all our pets must be named after songs from the Beatles.

So our current five chickens are:
  • Blackbird Singing in the dead of Night - she is black (surprise) and her name is usually shortened to Blackbird
  • Martha My Dear - dark brown, answers to Martha
  • Three recent, identical, whites, saved from free-range egg farm called
    • Here
    • There
    • and Everywhere
In the past we have had
  • Sexy Sadie
  • Prudence - a gorgeous Barred Rock, she was very imprudent and refused to go into the coop at night - until a dog got her
  • Obladee
  • Obladaa

And to fill out the list, our currents cats are called:
  • Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - answers to Lucy
  • Sargent Pepper - answers to Peppy

Barred Rock -- Opal
Silver-laced Wyandotte -- Guinevere
EE -- Pertelote

The last name comes from Wangerin's The Book of the Dun Cow...which is loosely based on the Chaucer story of Chauntecleer the rooster. :)

But we call her Perdy for short!

Has anyone read that book? It's a wonderful, amazing fantasy with chickens as some of the main characters. I know, sounds weird, but it will remind you of Lord of the Rings.

So if we had a rooster, his name would be...you can guess...

We have 5 chicks. My RIR is about a week or 2 younger than the other 4 and she established herself as a diva right off by making sure they all knew she was there...pushing her way through to the feeder, etc. So, her name is Diva. I have 2 Aracauna's one my husband named Stella (ARTOIS...LOL) the other is Lucy in the Sky since she tried to take a flying leap off our front deck the day we got them as I was trying to clean off pasty butt. Then we have 2 Barred Rocks, one named Cutie Pie by my daughter, the other was originally Suzy Q that my 6 year old son named.... But we had to rename since Suzy Q turned out to be a rooster. His name is now Jethro. Lol

Welsummer rooster named Henry Hurtfoot (got him from someone whom no longer wanted him and he has lost parts of a few toes from freezing, but gets around just beautifully).
My 2 Aracaunas are Shelly and Helga.
