What are your Spring 2021 hatching plans?

I’ll be hatching my Wheaten Ameraucanas, BCMs, LF Cochins, and will put on some Olive Eggers for the first time Hoping to add White Bresse and Swedish Hedemora as well!

Wheaten Ameraucanas are silly birds - super quirky and skittish at first (despite being hand raised), but they've become quite inquisitive and friendly since they now associate me with treats The cockerel I had to put in his place once as he pecked my hand quite hard while trying to protect "his" pullet I was holding, but he hasn't caused any issues since so they're quick learners.

I'm super excited to add a few Olive Eggers as I've heard they're lovely - and they lay the most beautiful eggs!

To be honest, I hate Wyandottes. I haven't ever had good luck with them. They never lay and are not docile to humans. The one that does lay refuses to lay in the nesting boxes. I wouldn't have a Wyandotte unless you want them for looks.

I’ve had a few wyandottes, they don’t tend to have the best personalities. My golds were friendlier than my silvers though. Mine laid alright, but not as much as my australorps or Rhode Island reds. Ive lost all but one to predators now, luckily she’s the friendliest and best layer of the ones I had. She’s the only of my hens to ever go broody too and is a great mom.

My Golden Laced Wyandotte finally laid an egg at 31 weeks, first week of Dec. 2020. But my Swedish Flower laid at 24 weeks. Sometimes I wish I never got that breed.

I only got mine for looks. The Swedish Flower Hens are the BEST!

I'm hatching some SFH from my flock right now, cause I want more of them. My Wyandotte was from a hatching experiment. Good thing I only have just one left, she's a nice bird but she sounds like a siren every time she lays an egg. Ear splitting sound.

I'm so happy with SFH, they have all the traits I really like in a hen and rooster. There so calm, inquisitive, and super friendly. I haven't had any health issues with them also, so that's a plus.
They definitely seem smarter than the Wyandotte. Can you tell I spend a lot time with my birds? lol.

What's SFH? Sorry, not used to abbreviations! lol
