Actually...if your a ebay fiend like myself....there are several brand new hovabators with turners for just under $100.00 buy it now on ebay. So I figured what the hey. Otherwise, our local feed store carries Little Giants, the incubator is $49.00 and the egg turner is $49.00. So either way, about $100.00 for a still air incubator and turner combined. Im just VERY new to incubating eggs and want to try and get the best experience/hatch possible with the funds I have available right now.

Wow! Been A Yr Or So Since I Was Looking At Cooler Bators---- They Have Really Come Down! Good For You! The Last Time I Looked At My Tsc The Lg's They Carry Were 55.00 For The Bator And 55.00 + Tax ( Cant Forget Uncle Sam's Lunch Money Now Can We? ) For The Turner, But Then Again Price Locally Is A Regional Thing.... Given The Choice I Would Go With A Hova Bator For Reasons Stated Earlier. Also A Quick Glance At Ebay Shows A Few Forced Airs For Just A Tad Over 100--- Given The Opportunity I'd Do That If Possible, The Forced Air Models Usually Yeild A Better Hatch Rate

If you get a little giant, I have to agree with the humidity problems, however, I solved that by buying an insert for the bottom tray (plastic insert), it has raised hole cones that you need to cut the tips off of in order for fresh air to circulate, but they are raised and you can put extra water in the bottom tray and it won't leak out everywhere.

I do recommend that you spend the little extra and get the forced air fan kit (or installed), it is not hard to install and helps regulate the temp and dry off the birds when they hatch. Also, getting a turner is worth its weight in gold.

I have heard good things about the new hovabator genisis, it is over $100 but it is preset for birds.

I'm making a cooler-bator this week. I just need to run to Office Depot to get a computer fan and I'm all set. I have everything else I need. I told hubby that I want to do this myself, I want no help from him. I do have a problem with my right arm after an accident I had in 2006 so I may need him to cut out the opening in the top but I really would like to do it myself.

This is a really simple thing to do!

"MissPrissy", whom I have never found to be wrong about anything, recommended my buying a Hova-Bator Genesis 1588 with an egg turner. I bought two, and I've never been sorry.

I'll have to check out the forced air ones as well then. My lil hens arent laying yet, so no immediate need as of yet, but they should start any time now. They're 8 weeks old as of this weekend.....
