What breed am I!

Well I was wondering about the Crele also and still don't have a clue what! I am going to check with some of the local hatcheries and see what they say since that is where he came from! The picture may not due him justice either since it was taken with a Cell Phone! I am going to get a good pic with the digital and post it too

OK being from the grand state of Missouri (That means SHOW ME guys and Gals) What seperates him from a Golden Cuckoo Maran or Possible Lemon Cuckoo Maran and A Black Sex Link! The reason I say this (other than being from Missouri and it has to be proven) Looking at the details on the websites I can't really tell for sure! I tend to lean more to the Maran side of the scale due to size comb type Waddle and Size of the bird! I am gonna get some measurments on him but My guess is he about 16 inches tall at the shoulder and 24 inches tall at the top of his comb when standing erect! I will listen to all comments and access till I find ouit from the hatchery he came from! Not saying he is not a black sex link but Just sayin their is still some reasonable doubt!!

Thanks
Ernie

i don't think so, aren't BSLs barred black and white?

Out of all the ones we hatched out they were either black & white barred or blue & white barred (my roo has some blue mixed in somewheres) there were a few than had a tinge of brown here and there on there feathers but nothing more than that!! Here's a post that I put some pics of them up on! https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=414831

I'm going to have to agree with the Golden Cuckoo Maran people. The BSL cocks are just barred. I thought it looked Crele at first also, but the Maran picture looks just like him. IMHO

Surely looks a lot like a GCM. 60 years later, I can still smell the stench of scalded chickens. Never stopped me from eating them though. We ate what we raised, and I guess if you are hungry enough almost anything will do. My Mom used to take the freshly plucked chickens and pass them over the gas stove to singe off the little feathery hairs that remained. Now, that was even worse than the scalding.

OK so I took this from a website about BSL chickens which leads me More to belive that boss is a GCM! The excerpt is as follows!!

Black Sex-Links are produced using a Barred Rock as the mother. Both sexes hatch out black, but the males have a white dot on their heads. Pullets feather out black with some red in neck feathers. Males feather out with the Barred Rock pattern along with a few red feathers. Black Sex-Links are often referred to as Rock Reds.

Boss is far from being like this! Plus he is twice the size of most standard RIR or barred rock roos

And I think from my reading (Correct me if IM wrong arent the Marans a larger breed?????

All good guesses, but I think he is just a mixed rooster of 2 or three breeds. Maybe RIR and Barred Rock? Just guessing again, but I think he is beautiful and would love to have him in a breeding project. Thanks for sharing the photo.

Thanks Randy
I am very proud of him no Matter what his Breed and He is the Best Watch dog you could have! When the girls are out free rangin he ALWAYS has his eyes open and watchin and likes to keep them all together where he can watch over them! In the Sping we are going to hatch some eggs out and see what we get! I can only hope I get something comparable to him! He is a Massive Roo! Some friends of our girls call him Steroid Steve because of His Size! I am going to weigh him and see just how big but guessing from his mass at least 10 to 12 pounds
