I was wondering if you can help I recused an abandoned duckling about 4 weeks ago he looked like he was only a week old, he's now tripled in size and a cheeky little character but I'm trying to find out what breed he is and what sex? Can anyone help?

They are Pekins. They are quite young. At around two or two and half weeks, you'll notice the bills get longer and they lose that fuzzy baby look. The right photo the ducklings are one week, the left one they are two weeks. These guys are eating non-medicated chick food.
Those are adorable ducklings. I love Pekins. I want to tell you that you absolutely have super cute ducklings! But I must also tell you, in a non judgemental way, that using newspaper and especially those shiny ads underneath them is not a good idea. I really, honestly want to be helpful, so please don't think that I am being rude or nasty. I used newspaper myself in the beginning, until others here told me not to. HTH and does not offend. They really are cute and quite frankly I am amazed by how clean your brooder is.

I wonder if a dArk phase KC maybe? So cute.

I checked the this site and found that newspaper is supposed to be too slick for the ducklings. I did consider that when using the shiny ads and tried to cover them with regular newspaper to keep them from slipping. We asked at the feed store what other people used and found out pine shavings were a good idea. (I did know cedar was out, so that was never considered.) So now the ducks are on newspaper with pine shavings, which hopefully helps. Thank you for the compliment on the brooder's cleanliness.

My ducklings were the same. But since they are getting their feathers i'm unsure about 4 of them. Two of them are definitely pekins.the 4 of them are smaller and have grayish feathers.
