I’ve raised these 3 since they were a few days old, I hatched my hen by myself and was told she would be a silkie and when I adopted the other two a day later the new seller also promised they were silkies but about 9 months in and I’m really curious as to what exactly they are cause I don’t think “silkie” is entirely right. I love them either way but I see a lot of people talking about different breeds and the characteristics that come with them and I always start to wounded what exactly they are so any guesses? 🤗

The first one looks like a gold laced Wyandotte mix…maybe with a Silkie in its background? Hard to say, but sort of has a Wyandotte look to it?

Second and third ones look like they are both satins, which is simply Silkie mixed with something smooth feathered (often Cochins, but can be anything) and the last is a satin frizzle which is what makes the feathers curly! So 2 and 3 are part Silkie, and one is a mystery but super pretty 😍

Golden laced wyandotte is my best guess too, all three have feathery legs as do all 4 of their chicks. I noticed three out of the 4 chicks have this fohawk looking hairstyle so that’s got to be another clue. I’ll look more into Cochins :D thank you
