Is there any way to identify a Cream Legbar from an Easter Egger or a Prairie Blue Bell? Hoover sent a box of chicks to my feed store - they didn’t band or identify any of them. It was a box of EE, PBB, Sapphire Olive Eggers, and Legbars. I had specifically ordered a Legbar and was hoping I got one. But I’m afraid I will never know what these little mutts are! Especially if none of them develop a crest.

The darker chipmunks are likely to be your legbars, if they are in there.

The rest vary a lot, but the dark gray has the potential to be a blue olive Egger, or the sapphire.

So. These are the dark chipmunks and the lighter, yellow chipmunk at 5 weeks. The lighter seems to be a Sapphire Olive Egger (Hoovers hybrid is supposed to have a crest). The darker? I wish they were Legbars, but they look too orange! And no crest (but my adult legbar doesn’t have a crest either).

The darker brown chipmunk striped ones look like legbar pullets, as long as they have straight combs!

The dark ones look like my starlight green egger did at that age! But one of them ended up laying a brown egg anyway lol

Of course.🙄 Have a Green Queen that lays a cream/beige egg. What did your pullets look like at this age? And now? Hoovers doesn’t have many pictures.

Here’s some pics. I thought for the longest time I had a rooster. Sure enough, she’s a hen! They say there’s a 5% chance they will lay a brown egg. I got mine from Hoover’s Hatchery.
