what breed are these?

Yeah, i understand. But deep down I'm hoping they'll be Orpingtons because from what I've read they're pretty broody and make good mothers and I'd like to be able to have my girls hatch some chicks for me lol
Lots of other breeds are great broodies silkies ,cochins ,game hens or crosses of any of those named. My best broodies are a EE/silkie cross and a bantam game hen cross.
Have even read where some breeds who usually don't go broody wind up broody.

Yeah, i also just like the way orpingtons look. And about the broodyness, I've even read of ways to make a non-broody hen go broody by putting them in a dark box by themselves or something lol.

The first two are Brown Leghorns of Welsummers I think. They're not Easter Eggers.
With the third and fourth ones you probably need to wait for them to feather out as these chicks could be of many breeds. But I'll say they might be Orpingtons.

It is a hormone thing either they have it or they don't.

Your little yellow ones could be White Orpingtons but only time will tell since there are a lot of white breeds as another person said. The chicks Murry McMurry show are a dirty yellow so no telling.

These chicks were bred and hatched by someone local, not a hatchery, if that means anything. One of my three brown ones appears to have a "beard" so i was thinking maybe ameraucona but idk. Either way, they're all healthy and hyper so far! :)

here's the "bearded" fella. It's more of an orange color than the other two but still has the stripes on the back.

Okay that one is the easter egger. But the ones at the beginning of the thread are brown lehorns or welsummers. Similar looking as chicks (sort of), but not the same.
