Hahaha shes my biggest hen. He is slightly behind her a little and my angle is downward. So it might be a little skewed. Lol he is def bigger but not by much honestly.

Still a good pick though. He holds his head high, which is nice. One of my hens holds her head super high then another one practically drags it in the dirt sometimes

I had a lead hen before i got him. She has sense calmed down a lot. He is amazing my friend gave him to me and the girls just love him. Hes so nurturing and all day literally hunts for bugs for them. Today it rained and he stood outside the coop until it quit then called them out lol. so crazy to watch him be such a gentleman.

I love it when people post stories about nice roosters

I hate seeing roosters in gumtree and craigslist because they are too loud or too bossy or too overprotective.

U know we have only heard him crow twice lol. Hes a chatter "bocks" haha (see what i did there.) But he isnt loud at all. He is super protective too but not aggressive. My disabledish dog came out back to potty. He bocked real loud almost a half crow and lead all the girls under the fence roost we have. Lol so cute. Like ahhh wth is this come on girls. and they just ran straight to him. I just got him yesterday!

Hahahaha im sorry! I just wish i knew what breed he is. Only info i got was he was purchased as a chick feom atwoods. Atwoods uses ideal hatchery for all their birds lol. I have looked through what they sell and i have no idea lol

Agree that he is not an Australorp because of the leg color (would be black), and also agree he is darned handsome, whatever he is!

We thought Australorp as well. But they are usually solid black with the irredecent colors, but not usually red. I have an Australorp hen and he is slightly taller than her but not thicker. She has no red in her at all. I was thinking maybe maran/australorp mix? Or maybe australorp/rir?

Given the location of the red on him, I would lean toward Maran/Australorp mix, but either way, he's definitely a mixed breed.
