What breed is Anna? Lays green eggs.

Wow that link from Buffy does look just like your girl. Hedemora's? for $99 bucks a chick? You could make some $$ if you breed her for sure

Only if you can find buyers to pay $100 a chick when there's no proof they're not mixes. I certainly don't think she's a purebred.

I don't think she looks like a hedemora at all. She's white and fluffy but other than that, nope. She has the ear tufts and beard, even the neck of an easter egger. Comb looks a little different. Overall shape is slightly different too.

She's an EE. Her feet aren't slate, and she lays green (not blue)... she doesn't meet the Ameraucana standards, therefore, she's an EE.

She's not a f1 silkie cross. Her feathers are silkied, her shanks are pink, no crest, no extra toes.

I just read the website on hedemoras. She looks like one though how you could have got one in australia is beyond me seeing as it says they like cold climates. I am in Canada and we all think you guys have warm weather all year (20s-30s celcius). Hedemoras aren't supposed to do well in heat so if she turns out to be one be careful.

X2

I'm certain that she is not a Hedemora as she doesn't have black skin as the article in the link suggested and she has a different shaped head. Also because we recently had a heat wave and the temp reched 38 degrees celcius, we lost three birds ( 2 sussex and a black star

) but Anna didnt seem to be affected much.

Some one said she might be an auraucana, she is not: araucanas have no tail feathers if purebred. A better guess would be some sort of cross involving either an easter egger or an ameraucana and another breed. The EE or ameraucana would give the greenish blue egg trait and if the other breed was a breed that lays brown eggs, particularly a maran would give the eggs a green color, if it was a maran the eggs will be an olive color. The feathers could be a muttation or could be passed down from one of the parents. Beautiful looking bird though.

Down here the Auraucana standard calls for tails, a small hairdo and muffs, different to other places. But I definetly agree that she is not an Auraucana. And I am begining to suspect that her Silkie feathering is a mutation as she has no other Silkie features.

It would be interesting to know how Silkies came to have their unique feathers in the first place.

Umm, Araucana. One U.

Down in Aussie though, that's an Araucana. They don't have Ameraucanas and the small crest often doesn't breed true, making for some crest-less birds too. However I gotta ask - honestly how does she look like a white Sultan? They're crested, feather-legged, and vulture hocked.

Anyway I think someone mentioned earlier, I believe she's a mutation. She may or may not be purebred, but she looks it, either way, she's probably a fluke of some sort.

Lock that bird up so nothing eats her. Fine something to breed her to and make your own breed. lol She reminds me of a light-built white rock that has silky feathers and a fluffy face.

Well fancy feathers...what ever breeds she is made her one BEAUTIFUL looking girl! Keep her safe and out of harm and enjoy her. Since all of us Americans have not a clue to what you really have down under it is hard to speculate on what breeds are in her mix. EE for sure..but the pink CLEAN legs are?????I would be guessing some sort of RECESSIVE silkie gene somewhere along the line / just enuf to cause the silkie feathers but NO 5th toe dark skin etc etc...

If you are planning on breeding her, I would try an EE type and see what you get? She would be SO much fun to breed and see what happens....Love Miss Hen she is sure a keeper...:love :yesss:
