What breed is Jeckle?

This is my best buddy Jeckle. She is about 18 months and the one that is moulting who by the way is still laying.

She is the sole survivor of 4 of these including a roo.They were bought at Dixie Stockyard Auction in Rock Hill,SC.

t'was a cold bleak friday night in december last year whence I bought her and her 3 chums for .50 cents a piece. I paid the two dollars for them all,then brought them home.One suffered trauma being trapped under the new coop,then to have the water dish fall on her head.One suffered from some disease that made her unable to walk and then die about a week after.the rooster died from being mauled from our ex-buff orpington roo(nice dinner out of that murderer).

Is she a blue rock hen.She is smaller that our bared rock hen,but a tad bigger that our american games.

Any help in this field is appreciated.

I'd say she's a mutt.

If anything of a breed, she's a Cuckoo Marans. (very poor quality)

Don't take it personally when people say "poor quality"--that just means the bird is not a good candidate for showing or breeding purebred birds. Doesn't mean she's not pretty or a great bird or awesome layer or whatever else! In fact, I think she's very pretty indeed.

Ive never cared for showing nor breeding.Ive wanted chickens for this: Working livestock.

Jeck Jeck lays every day,friendly,very vocal buddy.Shes the working girl of the coop,even while molting.

She is 2nd in line of being hen-boss. Does her own thing,and a pleasure to have.

.50 cents spent on her = a lifetime of pleasure!!
