What breed is my hen?

Her coloring and her backside remind me of a buff oportington (sp?)

The feathers on her leg remind me of a silkie.

(I have no idea what breed she is.)

Sure looks like a cute little bantam cochin cockerel to me also.

Has yellow skin (as cochins should), so doubtful of any silkie mixed in.

You really don't need proof, it isn't your bird!! No need to take it personally. If the OPis happy with this bird, let her be. I'm sure there are birds in almost every breed that seem either/or with mixed gender features. Everything isn't all black or white. Look at henny feathers on a male sebright .

X2! Ya'll need to calm down on the whole gender thing. The tilt says what breed not 'What sex' Anyways She looks like a buff cochin bantam to me.. maybe a mix between another buff breed. Buff cochins are slightly lighter then your bird. But she isn't mixed between a leghorn OR a silkie thats for sure. the white gene is very strong in leghorns so most mixes mixed with leghorns would turn out mostly white.. Same would go for silkie and i think she would have a couple more toes on her feet

Yes, thank you. I understand where people might have though that she was a cockeral at first but I assure you that it's a hen. Especially since I'm the one getting eggs from her everyday

Yes, I know it's a hen. The comb isn't THAT huge.

I'm not familiar with Cochins or their standards, but her comb is no larger than my buff Orpington hens comb. I love a mystery!
