Where did you get her?She just started laying this week. Ive included a couple of pictures of her, and then one of her egg. Hers is the darker one, the two rounded ones are from my Barnevelder and the big oval shape from my Buff Orpington. This is her second egg, first was similar but slightly smaller.View attachment 1239929 View attachment 1239930 View attachment 1239931
Thoughts?
Thanks!!!!View attachment 1239929 View attachment 1239930 View attachment 1239931
American Marans don't have feathers on the legs. French Marans do. The French variety is not as common. Not a maran, She would have feathered legs if so, Not a Jersey Giant, Her legs are the wrong color, They would be slate. I would say splash Orpington but I believe the leg color is still wrong.. She could possible be a mix?
Most often not. Only the French variety does.marans have feathered legs
Her skin is pale white/pinky..(under the feathers.. her legs are pale orange. She has a smallish comb and ears..(smaller than my buff orpington.) Her egg is darker than the B.O. but not super duper dark by any means.
I got her from a local breeder, along with 7 other (all different varieties).
I have a blue maran who has very feathered legs, who hasnt started laying. They are the two last of my flock to lay, and they hang out together all the time.
