What breed is my mixed puppy?

Wow! Thanks to you all! I was going to do one of those 80 dollar dna tests, so I might have to order one. Thanks so much for all of your suggestions! He doesn't seem to be shedding at all so I think he is hypoallergenic. I will for sure be posting more pictures!!!
Hey, let us know how the DNA test turns out. I'd like to do one on our new rescue (that's her in my avatar pic) I'd love to know what's behind this gem that someone just threw away, but I know absolutely nothing about the testing stuff. It makes me afraid to spend the money, but I sure would love to do it!.

Wish I did. they are on my old pc that has crashed. I had miniature schnauzers and owned giant schnauzers for several years. The giants were also black. I never owned the standard schnauzers. I like the little more wire haired type, but most want the ones that have all the long soft furnishings that are hard to care for ( I had those too). Definitely good ratters.
Yeah my pup has more wiry hair, but it's still kind of soft and long, which is kind of a weird combo to me.

My sister and my niece both got shelter dogs and both did DNA on them. The first answers were insane- breeds of dog never heard before (I used to show & breed Cockers). Sister & niece complained and they re-did the results for free - still absurd answers but totally different ones. I think the whole deal is a crock.

I never would have bothered, if you love the dog what difference does it make?

A lot of them are very inaccurate but Wisdom and Embark are supposed to be the most accurate ones. Embark is like $200 though which, yes, is kind of crazy but there is good reason because they use way more genetic markers than most and also test for tons of diseases and disorders. They're also run by a university.

So they can be very accurate but the cheaper ones are just that... cheaper.

Wisdom is pretty accurate though. My brother and fiancé did it on their rescue pup and it said Great Pyrenees, Lab, Boxer, and another unidentified breed. I think the more expens expensive one might have been able to ID the last breed but we think the other breeds are very accurate based on her personality, looks, etc. So I trust Wisdom. The shelter had said Great Pyrenees/Border Collie but we believe it was because of the coloring. The other breed could be BC though, who knows. She is very intelligent and a fast learner.
